Virtual and augmented realities have recently been used extensively, especially in the service sector. In this study, it is investigated how the use of metaverse platforms, which emerged with AR and VR technologies in the tourism sector, as a tool contributes to the GIG Economy. In the study, the use of metaverse platforms in the tourism sector, the conveniences they provide, and their future usage areas are examined. The research will start with a literature review, which will be supported by bibliometric analysis, and the PESTLE (Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Law-Legislation, and Environmental aspects) analysis and in-depth interview data will be weighted with analytical hierarchical process (AHP) analysis. In the results of the study, the components of the PESTLE analysis were weighted with AHP and it was revealed how important the economic factor is. The study revealed the weights of each criterion questioned for the PESTLE analysis separately. In this context, there are results that will be subject to evaluation for each segment. This study, which was carried out in order to reveal a new paradigm, is a unique study, as can be understood from the bibliometric analysis. There is almost no study that combines the disciplines of GIG Economics and Metaverse. A study involving the tourism sector has not yet been addressed. On the other hand, PESTLE-based AHP analysis of the GIG Economy, metaverse, and relationship in the tourism sector is not available in the literature. Because the study included an assessment based on a phenomenological study, AHP analysis is likely to receive the most intense response: A qualitative assessment based on opinions would not be objective. The same criticism can be made for this study. However, since the consistency analysis for AHP was performed, the results from the opinions obtained are also consistent. On the other hand, the fact that the study was conducted only with nine people with at least 15 years of experience in the tourism sector is among the limits of the study. Research can be developed with more people. On the other hand, the fact that the participants in the evaluation think differently and the definitions are formed differently due to the definition of the GIG economy can also be expressed as a separate constraint.
