The journey begins with data collection both mechanical methods (data loggers) and manual methods (keyboard entry) are discussed as well as problems involved in classifying geographical data. Data management is explored and methods of statistical analysis, including such statistical packages as MINITAB and SNAP. Specialised mapping packages such as GIMMS are discussed in detail.
