The potential of MIR spectroscopy as a rapid screening technique is demonstrated. Sample preparation is minimal. Once a database is established and a suitable data analysis protocol determined, a new sample can be screened in a few minutes. With a suitable user interface, the technique can be successfully deployed in QC laboratories and factories by nonspecialist personnel.
