Abstract
The BBC has been producing Shakespeare’s plays on radio for almost a century. These reviews of two of the most recent productions not only look at how this is currently being achieved, but also sets them in the context of the four hundred other productions that have gone before them. In doing so, these reviews outline two key methods of transmedializing Shakespeare’s texts: firstly by making few changes, other than cuts for length, and creating what is primarily a conventional reading of the plays; or alternatively, making substantial changes and twenty-first century additions to create a more individual interpretation.
