The purpose of this paper is establishing the usefulness of newly formed modified S-curve membership function in a limited supply production-planning problem with continuous variables. Fuzzy parameters of linear programming (LP) are modeled by non-linear membership function, viz., S-curve function. In this paper the construction of modified S-curve membership function and a real-life example of supply production planning problem are presented. The computational results indicate superiority of the fuzzy linear programming (FLP) technique having modified S-curve membership function over non-fuzzy linear programming approach in optimizing individual objective functions. Furthermore, the optimal solution provides a better level of satisfaction of the decision-maker when compared with that of the non-fuzzy linear programming.
