Abstract

Seasonal and mean annual temperatures can be reconstructed from radiocarbon-dated beetle remains to yield a synthesis of the palaeoclimatic history of Britain over the last 22,000 years. The reconstructions agree well with independent evidence from periglacial features and provide a detailed picture of the glacial to interglacial transition 14,500–9,000 years ago.
