Abstract
Academics should, in theory, be good at dealing with the media. We’re supposed to be knowledgeable, to be good thinkers, to write well, and be able to speak to an audi- ence. If we can write journal articles, why not newspaper articles? If we can lecture to students, why can’t we speak authoritatively on the radio? The answer of course is that we can – but often we don’t. It’s not in our comfort zone. That is something that legal academics should change. We can and should be good at dealing with the media.
