Abstract

Syntheses of the potent neurotoxins and biochemical probes anatoxin-a and homoanatoxin and several analogues by a combined two-directional synthesis-tandem reaction strategy are presented. Key steps include an oxidative desymmetrisation and a tandem Michael-intramolecular Mannich cyclisation.
