This chapter argues that, in distance education, the relationship between curriculum planning and course delivery can be reversed as the planning process moves 'on stage' and displaces the classroom performance of the teacher and student. The chapter raises critical questions about the predominant contemporary models of eLearning with their heavy reliance on instructional theory. It was refereed by the editor and by external readers.
