Abstract

Crystalline ethylzinc chloride exists as a coordination polymer in the form of puckered sheets with Zn3Cl3 rings, which differ from the well-known structure of [EtZnI]8 in adopting a boat rather than chair conformation. This contrasts with the tetrameric cubane structure suggested in 1966 based on molecular weight determinations in benzene solution.
