Abstract
Hybrid closed-loop systems can significantly improve glycaemic outcomes and quality of life. NHS England’s phased 5-year implementation strategy for hybrid closed-loop technology involves rolling out these systems to priority populations, including children and young people with type 1 diabetes. NICE recommends that individuals moving onto HCL systems are offered structured education before starting. With no nationally approved structured education programmes, paediatric diabetes teams must determine how to provide this. This article considers educational theory, current approaches in practice and the existing resources available.
