Abstract
The offshore wind sector is central to sustainability efforts. However, it mirrors the broader energy industry in facing significant challenges related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). This report presents the findings of an industry-wide survey conducted to assess the current EDI landscape. It identifies both barriers and enablers, and puts forward actionable recommendations to help organisations across the sector foster a more inclusive workforce. The sector has made meaningful progress in some areas. For example, representation of women has increased from 18% in 2018 to 20.6% in 2023, with an industry target of 33% by 2030. Similarly, representation of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic individuals has reached 7%, with a target of 9% and an aspiration of 12%. Despite this, there is a significant gap between policy and practice. This is particularly the case for offshore and on-site workers, who continue to experience lower inclusivity, reduced access to policies, and poorer job satisfaction and wellbeing. Survey findings reveal that work location and settings plays a critical role in shaping employee experiences.
