Abstract

Discover how utilising PebblePad created a new collaborative and coherent approach to co-teaching across two HEIs at the University of East Anglia (UEA) by introducing a single, equitable and user-friendly teaching resource that benefited both learners and instructors. In this use case featured at PebbleBash 2024, Course Director for Independent Prescribing at UEA’s Faculty of Medicine & Health Services, Dr Louise Grisedale, reveals how she and her colleagues leveraged a PebblePad-based solution to: Address the limitations of virtual learning environments that traditionally struggle to provide seamless collaboration and sharing between institutes. Remove the logistical challenges, administrative burden and maintenance issues of transferring and synchronising content across environments. Enable educators to build and distribute resources that scaffold student activity, while offering learners a digital space to collect and reflect on their learning. Offer preset formatting options, enabling educators to enhance the readability and structure of content as well as offer more intuitive navigation for learners. Minimise the risk of cognitive overload by providing learners with a single integrated digital platform for both teaching content and eportfolio creation. Crucially, the use case reveals how the struggles of inter-institutional co-teaching can be overcome with a unique approach that delivers exceptional outcomes – and how the solution is now transforming the university’s entire intake approach.
