This chapter starts by first highlighting the experiences of people living with gustatory dysfunction, people living with both dementia and gustatory dysfunction and of caregivers. There follows a brief outline of the anatomy of gustatory function and sections on gustatory dysfunction, evidence for the association between dementia and cognitive decline and gustatory dysfunction (across a range of different aetiologies), followed by discussion related to dementia-related impact.
