Abstract

Monohydroxypentaalkoxytriphenylenes are important intermediates for elaboration into complex covalently linked discotic liquid crystal assemblies. An improved, simple synthetic protocol is described that gives rapid access to these precursors in a single step. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
