Abstract

Although Coons surfaces are mentioned frequently in the context of computer graphics and computer-aided design, very little of the work has been published. The purpose of this paper is to provide an up to date account of Coons methods and extensions thereof, drawing mainly on unpublished material. The subject is not approached from a rigorous mathematical point of view, which can be found elsewhere, but from the stand point of the computer scientist or engineer who wishes to implement or use such methods. An extensive bibliography of the subject, including unpublished papers, is appended.
