Abstract

Let ? be a partition of n. We show that the space of FSn-homomorphisms between the Specht modules S? and S?r is one-dimensional, where F is a field of characteristic p and ?r is the ‘p-restriction’ of ?. Equivalently, our result proves the corresponding theorem for the homomorphism space HomFSn(S?reg,S?), where ?reg is the ‘p-regularisation’ of ?, as defined by James.
