The articles in this Special Issue will bring together a range of perspectives on dispute resolution in sport from around the world. Taking an innovative and holistic approach, the contributions address the CAS, first instance dispute resolution mechanisms at sporting bodies, national courts, as well as supranational and regional human rights courts. Some papers focus on particular dispute resolution mechanisms, and others consider how adjudicative bodies located in distinct legal spaces do or should interact. By considering both public and private law aspects of dispute resolution, and with the various articles adopting empirical, comparative or doctrinal approaches, the objective is to produce a series of articles that build on each other’s strengths. Ultimately, the Special Issue hopes to meaningfully and constructively add to the literature on sports law and dispute resolution. In doing so, it is intended to constitute a useful resource for academics, judges and arbitrators, sporting bodies, practitioners, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and postgraduate students taking courses in sports law, transnational law, or dispute resolution.
